According to the LAPD, there are over 20,000 identified gangs in the San Fernando Valley. Many of these kids got involved with gangs because there was nothing better to do, no activity that seemed like a better choice. The establishment of Children’s Day will introduce them to positive role models and provide kids with an assortment of resources to various activities and organizations that offer healthy and nurturing alternatives to gang life.
